Our Services

Boarding

Next time you’re going out of town, leave your pet with the experts at Pine River Veterinary Clinic! We provide individualized attention and care to each pet that stays with us and ensure that we maintain their normal routine to reduce unnecessary stress. No matter what your pet’s diet, medication schedule or other needs look like, we can accommodate them and provide compassionate care. We offer boarding services for both dogs and cats.

Boarding Requirements

Vaccinations:

  • Rabies
  • Distemper Combo (annual)
  • Bordatella (Kennel Cough) – Dogs

Must be actively on flea/tick preventative to assure our guests do not bring in or pick-up fleas while they are staying at our facility.

Negative fecal within the last 6 months or dewormed.

Most internal parasites are shed through feces in the form of eggs, which can only be seen under a microscope and can be found in normal-looking feces. To help keep our yard clean and prevent our guests from being exposed we do daily clean-up and require all boarding and daycare animals to be screened for parasites.

Dental Care

According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, more than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have dental disease by the age of 3. Dental disease can be very uncomfortable for pets and the longer it is left untreated, the more complicated and expensive it becomes to treat. Furthermore, certain dental diseases can lead to issues with your pet’s heart, liver and kidneys, and can also flood their body and bloodstream with harmful bacteria.

Common signs of dental disease include:

  • Yellow or brown buildup (tartar) on the teeth
  • Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Excessive drooling
  • Changes in eating or chewing habits
  • Pawing at the face
  • Loose teeth
  • Depression

At Pine River Veterinary Clinic, we conduct a thorough oral exam during each wellness visit and are equipped to treat dental disease if we identify a cause for concern. We highly recommend you have a veterinarian evaluate your pet’s dental health at least once a year even if your pet is not demonstrating symptoms. Schedule an oral exam to prevent irreversible periodontal disease, tooth loss, and possibly expensive oral surgery.

Microchipping

Microchipping is the most effective means of identification for your pet. Similar to vaccinations, microchipping is safe, quick and causes little pain. We always recommend that an ID tag be attached to your pet’s collar, but the microchip will serve as an extra layer of protection if an accident does occur. Most veterinary hospitals and shelters are equipped with a handheld microchip scanner that can be used to check for a chip. If the pet has one, it will transmit its ID number to the scanner via a low-frequency radio wave. From there, they can retrieve the pet owner’s contact information from the manufacturer and call the owner.

Radiology And Ultrasound

At Pine River Veterinary Clinic, we believe medical imaging is a very important part of veterinary medicine. It is a non-invasive way to better understand what is occurring in a pet’s body so that we can properly diagnose and appropriately treat the issue. In some cases, medical imaging can detect conditions and situations that may otherwise have gone undetected for months or years.

Senior Care

When your pet is in their senior phase of life, regular check-ups are extremely important to address the early warning signs of common age-related diseases, such as:

  • Arthritis
  • Gum disease
  • Diabetes
  • Blindness
  • Kidney disease
  • Cancer
  • Dementia

The risk of disease increases with age therefore early detection is the key to prevention.

Vaccinations And Parasite Prevention

Vaccinations are an essential part of your pet’s health care plan starting from the time they are very young. Pets should be vaccinated between 6 and 12 weeks of age and require boosters throughout their life.

Additionally, many pet parasites can infect people in addition to animals, which means parasite prevention is important for the health of your pet and your family. Animals are susceptible to a variety of parasites that can be easily avoided with parasite prevention.

Vaccinations and preventative care give your pets the best chance to avoid sickness and disease. At Pine River Veterinary Clinic, we create a personalized plan to meet the exact needs of your pet.
